Christmas Countdown
By Rodney Grubbs of Rodney's Christmas Gift Ideas
Only two weeks till Christmas !!! Some of us can't wait. Family time and gift giving (and receiving). What could be better. But for others it means knots in the stomach. Christmas cards to send. Presents to buy. Presents to wrap. Maybe even presents to make. As the big day draws near, it can seem quite overwhelming. So if you are one of the "others", here are a few tips that help me. I hope they help you too. Make a To-Do List: Items constantly swimming around in my head seem to add to my holiday stress. And this is not the time of year for us to be stressed. Putting it all down on paper gives me a sense of control (even though I still might not be). Rank it in order of importance if you like. I just like to have it all written down. Putting a date on each item also helps. Now with this written plan in place, you have a pretty good idea of what you can and cannot handle. Just be sure to not add to the list unless it is absolutely necessary. And be an honest judge. As far as gift buying goes, here is how I handle it. Again with the list thing. I make a list of all the gifts yet to be purchased. Then I mark which ones can be bought online and which ones I will absolutely have to go to a store to get. Next I find an evening when I can do the online. A small plate of cookies, a cup of hot chocolate and one hour later I'm done with the bulk of my shopping. If you order early enough, many companies offer free shipping this time of year. Then I try to take a half day where I can go get the offline stuff all in one trip. I shoot for weekdays to avoid the weekend crazies. I know its just me, but I like to get the shopping over with so I can just sit back and enjoy watching everyone else trying to get it all done. Speaking of online shopping, and since I'm a big Amazon shopper, as you may have noticed at my Christmas site, here is Amazon's shipping schedule for this season: Wed, Dec 17 last day for free shipping on orders over $25 Thurs, Dec 18 last day for standard shipping Sun, Dec 21 last full day to order two day shipping Mon, Dec 22 cut off times through the day for two day shipping, last full day for one day shipping Tues, Dec 23 cut off times through the day for one day shipping Christmas is not a time for stress. It is a time to build memories with your family and friends. Make sure you build them into your plans. Enjoy the Christmas season and Help Someone UP Today.
