This tip really serves two purposes. First of all, it is a pretty good bet that your closest relatives would much rather hear your voice live rather than receive a Christmas card from you.
Second, a five minute call has an average cost of 35 cents, which is less than a postage stamp and much less than the price of a Christmas card. Save yourself some money while truly making someone's Christmas day. 2. Purchase your next year's Christmas cards and wrapping paper now.
It is the first few days right after Christmas, it is easy to pick these things up at 50-75% off their regular price. 3. Take a Christmas light-viewing drive.
Do a quick online search for Holiday displays in your city. You will find a great many free lighted displays. Take the family for a nice drive around the town. Take some hot chocolate and popcorn with you. This is one of our all-time favorite Christmas traditions. 4. Give the gift of yourself.
This is a gift that many people will be extremely grateful to receive. Some ideas are
a. spend a couple of hours with a shut-in
watching a movie
b. babysit for a couple who could really use
some alone time
c. shovel some snow for the elderly on your
street 5. Shop online with stores that offer free shipping.
